It's very annoying that the app doesn't support Do Not Disturb mode when viewing movies and that the notifications have to be silenced separately. If you're going to write a Mac app, why not use the built-in support for notifications that has been available for the last 2 major versions of the OS?

You can turn on Mute notifications when running full-screen program to see if it helps:
