Cannot connect to phone / Ping phone from pc

Hi,
I am running Android 2.3 gingerbread on my Huawei Honor.

I cant seem to ping my phone/connect to airdroid via my pc windows 7 using an ethernet connection.

Anyone has any idea how to get about this? I've tried googling..but they aren't really specific to my problem. It's like something's blocking me from accessing my phone over wifi, but I've no firewalls running, tried turning off windows firewall but to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !
