"To:" not accessing contacts like it used to

Just installed the AirDroid3 update.
Now when I attempt to create an SMS from the desktop, I cannot auto-populate by drawing from my contacts (as I would expect to be able to).
If I omit the first letter in the name of the intended recipient, it will correctly display names meeting the search criteria.
Is this a known issue?
Can I hope for a bug fix relatively quickly?

i have the exact same issue. The work around posted above worked for me too. Hope this gets fixed soon. This is the only bug preventing me from paying for this service. So far, I am loving the other working features of airdroid.
