web.airdroid.com hang at 100%

Hello,

When I try to use web.airdroid.com in Chrome on Linux, it just hangs at 100%.

Looking at the console log, I get 2 errors from the site:

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier cdn1.airdroid.com/V2071401101215/js/resource_2.js:4
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'init' of undefined config_web.js:1

On top of that, there is also a warning:

event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead. required.js:2

Are those known bugs?

Further more, trying to validate the actual HTML code, these errors pop up:
4 validation errors
line 7: Bad value google for attribute name on element meta: Keyword google is not registered.
line 7: Attribute value not allowed on element meta at this point.
line 7: Element meta is missing one or more of the following attributes: content, property.
line 12: Bad value copyright for attribute name on element meta: Keyword copyright is not registered.

Hello Deninis_Johansen,
Thanks for your feedback.

Usually this issue could be fixed by refreshing the web browser. Would you please have a try?

If the issue still remains, please let us know :)

Uhm. Clearing cache, forcing reload etc doesn't change the bugs in that JS code. (As the quotes from console log shows) - So not surprisingly, that had no effect.
Did you try looking at the code at those particular lines?

The issue has persisted for around a year. I've been using other applications in the meantime, as this one is clearly broken.

I had assumed you'd have it sorted by now, but apparently not - Hence trying to contact you about the bugs.

Odds are those JS bugs prevents the rest of the JS script to run - And stop the page loading properly.

Hi Dennis_Johansen,
Would you please try if you can open the following resources, if yes, then you should use AirDroid as expected:
http://cdn1.airdroid.com/V2071401101215/js/resource_2.js
http://cdn1.airdroid.com/V2071401101215/js/resource_1.js
http://cdn1.airdroid.com/V2071401101215/js/required.js
http://cdn1.airdroid.com/V2071401101215/js/config_web.js

Open them? As in download and view the actual files, yes that works fine, but if added to a skeleton html file, they of course give the exact same errors, as it is the same files...(And a few more, as the skeleton html file wouldn't include jQuery)

Again - Have you looked at those errors I've copied out from the console in Chrome?

Those files are flooded with errors if you put them through most JS validators out there... Try out http://www.jslint.com/ or http://jshint.com/ for example.

http://esprima.org/demo/validate.html only finds problems in: "http://cdn1.airdroid.com/V2071401101215/js/resource_2.js" - But apparently a quite severe bug ("Error: Line 4: Unexpected identifier") - Which is exactly the same, as I initially copied out from the Chrome console... This time it is a completely different webpage - Giving the same error...

Any news on this? I can see you've changed something, but only to get another error instead.
The validation errors haven't changed.

Current status:Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier cdn1.airdroid.com/V2081401231936/js/resource_2.js:4
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'init' of undefined config_web.js:1
event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead. required.js:2

Hi @zechau,
I'm not interested in starting up specific browsers, as a workaround for your bugs. Consider if all sites required specific browsers or even versions of browsers. There is a reason we have standards. Use those, and it will work with any compliant browser ;-)

I'll just find another product to use instead. I liked how Airdroid worked in 1.x series, but 2.x has had this issue as far back as I can remember...

Should you wish, to fix your javascript bugs, I'll be happy to help out with testing though (In the unlikely case, that you don't see the exact same bug, if you tried with Chrome).

Until then, I'll take this as a sign, that you don't have any interest, in fixing your bugs.

hi again @Dennis_Johansen, thanks for using airdroid. I use it ever day, it's really amazing.
I told you to try firefox, it's because I want to confirm if your problem is caused by the setting of your chrome browser, but I did not said it clearly for you, sorry for that. :)

We have test it in chrome on linux like ubuntu and it works well. We have you checked the availability of the js source, the four url above, you tell us they are all available. And we check the code, there are not syntax errors in the js file your told us. This problem is really weird, but we will try our best to fix it and inform you as soon as possible.
Thanks all your efforts to try to help us fix it!
:D
