Accessing files on phone from my MACquestion

I am trying to import the photos that I took on my phone to Lightroom on my Mac. I can sometimes get the backup function to work (usually fails to connect) or it tells me to set the computer as the backup location. I have done that many times but for some reason, I do not see that function on my phone. On the rear occasions that I am able to get it to work the time/date stamp is set to the date the files are transferred and not when they were actually taken.

Basically, I want to go into finder and see the phone so I can point Lightroom to the correct location. Is that possible?
