This quick guide is assuming your Android device has a working WiFi connection and your computer is connected to that same network.
1. Install AirDroid on your Android device from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid.
2. Open AirDroid on your Android device, and you should see something like the screenshot below:

There are two web addresses:
http://web.airdroid.com and something like http://192.168.xxx.xxx:8888. You'll use one of it soon.
3. Turn to your computer. Open a web browser (we recommend Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Internet Explorer might not work properly), and visit one of the web address above:
1) if you visit http://web.airdroid.com, you'll see a page looks like the screenshot below:

You should see a black QR code on the right side.
Go to AirDroid on your Android device, and press the Scan QR Code button at the bottom, and point your Android device's camera at the QR code to scan it. And you should be then be able to sign in. Explore AirDroid on your own
2) You can also use the IP address like http://192.168.xxx.xxx:8888. For example, my own address displayed in AirDroid is http://192.168.40.1:8888. Your address should be a little different. Enter the address in a web browser, and your Android device will instantly get a connection request as below:

Press Accept, and you'll sign in to AirDroid. Explore AirDroid on your own
