My PC is hardwired across the house, works great.
The wifi is weak, so I setup a hostednetwork, and can connect the phone to the PC to use it's bandwidth.
Airdroid Web works fine with both AP and hotspot.
Airdroid Win works on the AP but not the hotspot.
