Stop Chrome notifications if I'm not running Airdroid!question

I don't use Airdroid all the time, it's mainly when I need to charge my phone and still operate it. I use the web version in Chrome on Windows 7, not the desktop program. The way Airdroid used to work was that I would only see notifications within the web app. When I closed the web app, everything related to Airdroid would also stop. Now I keep getting SMS and phone call popups directly in Chrome whether I'm running the web app or not. This is really annoying as I don't need Chrome notifications if the phone is in my hand.

How can I stop these notifications please?

I think I've finally found it! Click the Airdroid icon at the top, then General, and untick Enable Desktop Notifications.

No! Notifications are still appearing through Chrome. How is this possible?
