SMS gets sent, but does not appear in conversation history

I'm using airdroid to send sms, but when i send one, it shows up with a moving envelope (sending).

The other person recieves the message and sends a reply. When i recieve the reply, the sending message disappears.

The sending message never appears on my phone.

I'm running miui on a note 3 (n900). I have given the application, permissions (trusted).

If you set a third-party SMS as the default SMS might cause this problem. Would you please set your system SMS as the default SMS and then try again?

I tried it and it didnt work, but the stock app in miui is their version of the messaging app.

Normally I'm using google hangouts.

For reference, I've also tried pushbullet and Mighty text.

Only Mighty text has worked properly so far.

I am having this same exact problem. I'm using the HTC One M8 with everything stock/default
