USB anchorage issues

Hey!I'm having a few problems with the USB anchorage. I'm at work and not allowed to access the Wifi network via mobile... so I am struggling with the USB tethering and hotspot mode. I'm following the step-by-step guide and with the droid everything turns out fine, but when I try to access the interface with my browser (google chrome BTW) it just doesn't connect.
My question is: if I'm under a proxy network (which is very restricted) I can't get to my phone or it's not really an influence? I'm using a Mac, when I share my internet connection via wifi it connects normally, but as I said, it's a safety breach for the company's wifi network.

In firefox (not sure of chrome) you can specify hosts (sites, IPs, etc.) that can bypass the proxy settings. Try doing that for you phone's IP.
