Airdroid modifies timestamps of copied files

MTP does not work in Ubuntu so I am using airdroid to copy photos off my phone (galaxy nexus) to my computer (ubuntu 12.04). It is very nice software, but my problem is that the files downloaded via airdroid all have modification date of whenever I transferred them. I want the files to keep the timestamps they have on the phone (which is the date & time I took the photo)! How can I achieve this? Thanks

Title

Buy a Galaxy S2. It has dedicated partition for internal sdcard, so allows you to use Mass Storage Mode, which is not the case for newer devices (S3 and up).

Another possible option (not tested), is to transfer files via FTP.
