Trouble scanning QR code

Hi, I have a new Nexus 7. When I load the AirDroid on the Nexus and go to web.airdroid.com on the browser, I see the QR code. To scan it apparently I need to tap the camera icon next to the dynamic passcode on the bottom.

If I do tap the camera icon, the Nexus screen just goes black, as if it gets stuck loading something. The app doesn't crash. After some minutes I can still go back to the screen with the passcode. I guess something is not working, right? Or am I doing something wrong?

BTW, the login with the dynamic passcode works fine. I'm just confused about how to do the QR scan.

And QR scans on the Nexus 7 work fine on a separate QR app (QR Droid). But that obviously doesn't help for AirDroid, right?

I cant even do the scanning ... no idea what they mean. I have begun to just type the code in from my phone...

When I log onto web.android the box is blank and on the phone I have a code . If i go to airdroid.com well it lets me scan the black box but nothing happens.. annoying.
