Notification sound playing via speaker even when earphones plugged in.

I had my earphones in and every time I'd connect to AirDroid, the notification sound was playing out load via the speaker instead of my earphones.I am using a Samsung Galaxy S3 with ICS (v4.0.4)

For now, I've switched off notifications.
