Contacts not coming up when creating a text message

Should it be possible that the connection is interrupted? And how many contacts do you have? If you have lots of contacts, you may wait for some time to load all the contacts.

And would you please provide a screenshot of this?

Exactly the same problem. Contacts not loading.
Also try to type or past a phone number/s directly into the "To" field and the number isn't recognised. Sometimes this works, but usually it doesn't. It's very sporadic. Can't identify reasons why it does and doesn't work at times.

I'm having this problem with picking contacts for SMS + looking at the contacts screen as well. Hasn't been a major shift in number of contacts from when I was running 4.3.x
Seemed to happen when I moved to Android 4.4.
